Body Regions

Anatomical position is when the body erect,feet slightly apart,palms facing forward,and thumbs point away from the body.

Superior(cranial)is toward the head end or upper part of the body.


Inferior(caudal) is away from the head or lower part of the body.

Anterior(ventral) is toward or at the front of the body and posterior(dorsal) is toward or T the midline of the body.

Lateral is away from the midline of the body and intermediate is between a more medial and a more lateral structure.

Proximal is closer to the origin of the body and distal is farther from the origin of a body part.

Superficial(external) is toward or at the body surface and deep(internal) is away from the body surface.

Body planes are sagittal,midsagittal,frontal,transverse,and oblique section.

Body cavities are dorsal caviy,ventral cavity,thoracic cavity,abdominal cavity,and pelvic cavity.
